TAC Towards Zero
The AFL and Transport Accident Commission (TAC) have had a long association and in 2019 they came together to actively engage the community in the Towards Zero message. WSJFC implemented a number of club initiatives to share the Towards Zero messages. In June a number of our U17 Learner drivers participated in a METEC Driving Course. In addition, the U17 boys and U16 girls attended an information session by Road Trauma Support Service Victoria (RTSSV) where they not only heard about the risks and responsibilities associated with driving but heard from Sally, mother of 21 year old son who lost his life in 2015. Sally's story reminds us that our first decision whenever we get into a car must be to focus on our own safety, that of our
mates and our community. We thank RTSSV and Sally for sharing their stories.
The club participated in the Towards Zero round in August and had a number of initiatives
at our social functions to encourage alternatives to driving.
As a result, the club was proud to receive one of the Towards Zero Grants- thank you to all those
